Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how BitRanch LLC, a California limited liability company ("BitRanch," "we," "us," or "our"), handles personal information in connection with our company website at bitranch.co (the "Site").
Our software products have their own privacy policies covering the data those applications handle. Each product's policy is published with that product and is presented to you at purchase or installation.
1. Privacy at a glance
- This Site is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no third-party scripts, and loads no fonts, images, or other resources from third parties.
- We do not run advertising, and we do not sell or share personal information.
- Traffic statistics are collected by analytics we host ourselves, in aggregate form, without cookies and without storing your IP address.
- The only personal information we handle through this Site is what you choose to send us by email.
2. Information we collect
Information you send us. If you write to us at info@bitranch.co or another published address, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and the contents of your message. We use it only to respond to you and to keep a record of the correspondence.
Server logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., processes standard server logs on our behalf when your browser requests a page. These logs may include your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser's user-agent string. They are used for security, abuse prevention, and operating the Site, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Website analytics. To understand overall site traffic, we use a self-hosted instance of Umami, a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool running on our own servers in the European Union. It collects only aggregate statistics, such as pages visited, referring site, country, and browser. It stores nothing on your device, does not store your IP address, and does not track you across other websites. The tracker is served from this domain, so no request is made to a third party, and this data is not shared with any third-party analytics or advertising company. Website analytics data is retained for up to 24 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
We do not collect any other personal information through this Site. There are no third-party analytics scripts, tracking pixels, session recorders, advertising tags, or embedded third-party widgets on this Site.
3. Cookies
This Site does not use cookies, local storage, or any similar technology to store information on your device.
4. How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- respond to your inquiries and provide support;
- operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Site; and
- comply with legal obligations.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site and in responding to people who contact us, and on compliance with legal obligations where relevant.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only to:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, currently our hosting provider (Cloudflare, Inc.) and our email provider; and
- Legal recipients, where we are required by law, regulation, or valid legal process to disclose information, or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property.
6. Purchases
No purchases are made on this Site. Our software is sold through our product websites, where checkout and license issuance are handled by our payment provider and merchant of record, Polar (Polar Software Inc.), under Polar's privacy policy. Purchases made through an app store are processed by that store under its own privacy policy.
7. Retention
Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to handle your inquiry and to keep a reasonable business record of it, and then deleted. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short period under its standard retention practices. Website analytics data is retained for up to 24 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to request access to it, to request correction or deletion, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising those rights. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA; residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, write to info@bitranch.co. We will verify your request using the email address on the correspondence and respond within the time limits set by applicable law.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and information you send us is handled there. Where personal information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
10. Children
This Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to info@bitranch.co and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use HTTPS across the Site, restrict access to correspondence to the people who need it, and keep our systems patched. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here.
